As part of its ongoing growth, HELT Design is pleased to announce the addition of Daniel Richard as Associate Architect in the firm’s HQ office in Belmont.
A graduate of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and a licensed architect with over 10 years of experience, Daniel brings a detail-oriented, hands-on approach to design—balancing creative problem-solving with a deep passion for construction detailing, craftsmanship, and constructability. His experience spans a wide range of project types, including multifamily and mixed-use developments, as well as complex adaptive reuse and urban infill projects.
One of Daniel’s most notable projects involved the transformation of a 7-story multifamily building that preserved a two-story historic façade dating back to the 1920s. The project presented multiple challenges—including a 12-foot site grade change and a large, diagonal underground storm vault—which Daniel navigated with innovative solutions that respected the site’s historical integrity while delivering modern functionality.
Daniel’s technical strength, thoughtful design process, and ability to bring clarity to complex projects align perfectly with HELT Design’s mission to provide forward-thinking, full-service architectural solutions.
Inspired early on by the engineering ingenuity and artistic grandeur of cathedrals, Daniel has always gravitated toward projects that merge architecture’s structural and expressive potential. He is particularly focused on the articulation of materials and detailing, ensuring buildings not only perform well but also express quality and craftsmanship in their assembly.
Outside the office, Daniel is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys training for triathlons, camping, fishing, and taking in the view from a quiet balcony. His “dream project”? Designing a cathedral in the spirit of a 13th-century master builder—pushing the limits of what’s structurally possible through thoughtful design and engineering.
